| Welcome to the Summer 2021 edition of the quarterly Bariquins‘ newsletter In this newsletter: Bariquins’ Clothing Upgraded Mannequin Demonstrations Resume Barry & Benny’s Round-Up Please scroll down for all the details. Bariquins’ Clothing Upgraded ![]() Bariquins will now be supplied with a much stronger, tougher and hard-wearing set of clothing than the previous fleece style sweatshirt and jogging bottoms. Although the original clothing supplied with the Bariquin mannequin has been sufficient for most training applications, some fire services have questioned its ability to handle extreme scenarios. The new clothing is made from more durable material frequently used in making industrial workwear. When the search for a suitable manufacturer began, Bariquins looked for a British based company that would produce the new Bariquins clothing wholly within the UK. Furthermore, the company eventually chosen to supply the new clothing also has a background of supplying PPE to the fire services and a culture of technical expertise regarding fabric performance. This company is Arville Textiles Ltd and they are based in West Yorkshire. Whilst working with Arville, Bariquins were also able to adapt the new clothing to make it easier still to fasten around their mannequins. The top has a V-neck which gives greater access, allowing Barry or Benny’s head to be fitted easier. And the trousers have a side-release clip rather than the previous draw-string ties, making it less fiddly when maintaining his dignity. ![]() As with the previous clothing, if your Bariquin is exposed to a scenario in which it becomes dirty, the clothing can be cleaned in a washing machine to preserve its appearance. The mannequin’s head, hands and feet can also be cleansed by using an ordinary face wipe (we suggest environmentally friendly ones). And the component parts of the mannequin torso and limbs will be kept looking new with a simple wipe down with warm, soapy water. A simple bit of upkeep that helps you keep promoting your organisation’s professionalism by using a mannequin that looks neat and clean. Mannequin Demonstrations Resume In the Spring 2021 newsletter, we reported that Bariquins had resumed its Bariatric Casualty and Bariatric Patient Moving & Handling Courses. (Click here to go to Training) We can now report that Bariquins are once again taking bookings for their free Bariquin bariatric training mannequin demonstrations. They have previously proved popular with the emergency services, healthcare providers and universities. Sadly, we must limit the demonstrations to the mainland UK but we’re always open to the possibility of travelling abroad, even though that may only be virtually! Each demonstration takes around an hour to complete but if you and your colleagues would like to enact a short training scenario with the mannequin after the demonstration, you are invited to take the opportunity whilst you have the mannequin present. If you would like Bariquins to attend your organisation to demonstrate their 25st/350lb/159kg bariatric training mannequin that one person can lift (providing he’s not assembled), please contact Bariquins to arrange a date and time suitable when you and your colleagues are available. To arrange a demonstration please, email enquiries@bariquins.com suggesting some suitable dates/times and we’ll be in contact to confirm a demonstration to suit you.
