Cleaning Hints for the Bariquin

It’s that time of year when days are colder and wetter, the nights are longer and we still need to train. It’s certainly not as enjoyable when it has to be done in an out-of-doors environment during poor weather, especially cold, poor weather.
It’s not just those who take part in the training who end up cold, wet and muddy, think of the Bariquin! Whether he’s lowered from an upper floor window or manoeuvred from a collision damaged vehicle, the Bariquin is exposed to those elements too. Worse still, Barry or Benny may be left lying on dirty, muddy ground before or after the training exercise has taken place, while you’re having a lovely, hot brew!

Fortunately though, our Bariquins are made of stern stuff. And they’re easily cleanable too.
Just a little post training sprucing is all that’s required to keep Benny or Barry spic and span. Plus, the necessary cleaning products are everyday household products, so there’s no need to order any special supplies in. It’s basic washing up liquid and face wipes.
In order to clean any dirt of Barry or Benny’s component parts, all it takes is some warm water with some washing up liquid mixed in. Then just wipe the component clean. The image below shows the same right calf component before and after it has been wiped clean. It’s not two different components or some Photoshop wizardry!

To clean the silicone parts of the Bariquin, that is the head, hands and feel, use the face wipes. It’s quick and easy to renew Barry or Benny’s handsome good looks with a quick wipe. Again, the image below has not been doctored with Photoshop and only one head and a set of hands were used in the image to show the difference in the before and after states.

That just leaves the clothing to be laundered for a fully a fully spruced Bariquin. The top and jogging bottoms can be washed in a household washing machine as you would with your own sweat shirt and joggers. They can be washed at a low temperature (30C) if they are only lightly soiled. Higher temperature (40C) if dirtier. If there’s any oil stains from a vehicle extrication training scenario, it’s a good idea to squeeze washing up liquid on to the oil stain, then let it soak in prior to placing it in the washing machine. (I’ll let you use that tip on your own clothing! You’re welcome.)Once the clothing has dried, you’re already for the next training exercise with Barry or Benny looking their best.
All that is to do now is to wish everyone a
Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy 2024
particularly those working throughout the Festive Period.
So until the next newsletter
Stay Safe and Healthy.
